What you get
You buy it once and it's yours to make music with, on up to three computers, for as long as you like. Your music is yours, with no royalties. Don't share the key or hand out the sounds. The rest of this page is the full agreement.
Effective October 28, 2026. This is an agreement between you and Heavy Layers of Imbalance LLC, a Texas company that makes and sells instruments under the DETØN SCIENCE name ("we"). It covers LENS, LENS TOLVANERA, LENS POLY, LENS AZOGUE, LENS RESOLANA and LENS MASTER (the "instruments"), their factory sounds and presets, and their updates. By installing, activating or buying an instrument, you agree to it. Questions: detonscience@gmail.com.
1. The demo
The demo is the full instrument: every sound, every page, no time limit. Saving (projects, presets) and taking audio out are switched off, and the sound dips softly for a second once a minute, until you add a licence key; your DAW session still saves with it inside. The same install unlocks. You may use the demo for as long as you like, to try the instrument. You may not get around its limits.
2. What buying gets you
- A personal licence to use the instrument, for good. It doesn't expire and there is no subscription.
- Activation on up to three computers of yours at a time. Deactivate one to move the licence to another. A computer needs the internet once, to activate; after that the instrument works offline.
- Every 1.x update, free. A new major version (2.0) is a separate, discounted upgrade for owners; you can keep using the version you have.
- The LENS SUITE gives you the same licence for every instrument in it.
The licence is for one person. A school, studio or company that wants the instruments on more computers or for more people: write to us.
3. Your music
Everything you make with the instruments is yours: songs, beats, scores, sound design, for any use, commercial or not, anywhere, with no royalties and no credit owed. That includes music that uses the factory sounds and presets, as part of your own work.
4. What you can't do
- Share your key, or install the instrument for other people under it.
- Sell, rent, lend or transfer your licence.
- Copy or hand out the software, except the free demo installers as we publish them.
- Repackage the factory sounds or presets and give them away or sell them, as sample packs, preset banks, sound libraries or in another instrument, or use them as training data for software that makes sound or music.
- Take the software apart to get around the licence, or remove our names and notices.
5. Ownership
The instruments, their sounds, presets, code, look and names belong to Heavy Layers of Imbalance LLC. You get a licence to use them, not ownership. LENS and the product names are our marks. The instruments use third-party components under their own licences (the JUCE framework, and typefaces under the SIL Open Font License and Apache 2.0); their notices come with the installers.
6. Activation, and if we ever stop
Activation checks your key with our server once per computer. If we ever stop running that server, we will first publish an update or a way to activate offline, so every owner keeps using what they bought.
7. Refunds
Fourteen days, any reason. The details are on the refunds page. A refunded or charged-back purchase ends the licence for it.
8. Ending the licence
If you break this agreement, we may end your licence and stop your key. You can end it any time by uninstalling. Sections 3, 5, 9 and 10 still apply after it ends: the music you made stays yours.
9. No warranty
We test every release and fix what we find, and we will help you if something goes wrong. But the instruments are provided "as is": to the extent the law allows, we make no other promise that they will work without error on every computer or with every host, or that they suit a particular purpose. Keep backups of your work.
10. Limits
To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about an instrument is limited to what you paid for it, and we aren't responsible for indirect losses, such as lost work, lost income or damaged files. Some places don't allow these limits; there, they apply as far as the law permits. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer.
11. The law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States. If we disagree, write to us first; most things can be settled with a conversation.
12. Changes
We may update these terms for new versions. The terms that came with your purchase keep covering what you bought; a change never takes away something you paid for.
